FABRICATION%u201cThis is a long-awaited acquisition for the Fabrication Department, and it is set to change employees%u2019 lives!%u201d said Specialist Engineer Barry Hartog, who derives great work satisfaction from improving productivity and work environments and has really motivated for this capital investment. The plate bending machine, weighing 19 tons, is designed and manufactured to accurately bend, cut and curve a wide range of materials and thicknesses and create many different shapes. This results in significantly less material wastage than any other fabrication process. Celebrating the Arrival of the Plate Bending Machine Ahead of Off-CropThe Company previously outsourced the work and will now do this work on-site. As well as speeding up the production process and turnaround time on fabrication requirements, it will save on welding time, consumables and electricity during off-crop.Furthermore, this has provided an opportunity for the Fabrication team to be upskilled, trained and qualified in a new machine operation.The machine is operated by any staff member once they have been trained. To date, four USM employees have received training and are ready to use this Magnum masterpiece!The Fabrication Department have more to celebrate as four employees recently received training in Forklift Operations.
